Overarching Preventive Sympathetic Tripping Approach in Active Distribution Networks Without Telecommunication Platforms and Additional Protective Devices

Nowadays, distributed generation (DG) has made it possible to generate electricity close the consumption site, resulting in improved efficiency, less environmental pollution, and higher economic profit. These advantages have led increased penetration of DGs distribution system. Protective devices a system are set by considering main substation as only source for feeding short circuit current. However, with influence second current systems level changes, which leads false tripping protective devices, including overcurrent relays. A sympathetic trip, occurring due fault adjacent feeder, is one most serious challenges. This paper analyzes trip presence synchronous based DGs. The equations related participation upstream network obtained. effect different parameters on probability occurrence also investigated. Moreover, novel fast solution presented overcoming proposed method introduced using positive-sequence currents substation. predicted adopting this prediction index its avoided. methodology independent telecommunication platforms additional can be applied various circuits. tested simulating DIgSILENT PowerFactory software.
